Biodynamic wine-growing is a holistic approach to viticulture and winemaking that emphasizes the interconnectedness of every aspect of the growing process, harnessing rather then seeking to control the powerful energies of nature. In other words it places the emphasis on the natural rhythm of the seasons and the moon’s cycles and on interfering as little as possible with the soil and the natural growth of the vines. This philosophy goes beyond traditional organic farming practices, for it views the vineyard and the wine grower as one harmonious, unified ecosystem, with the grower as guardian of the terroir, gently coaxing the vines to produce a pure, natural and wonderfully authentic expression of their terroir.
